The first hours

What to do now

If your pet has just died, there is no need to hurry. These are the things that help in the first few hours.

  1. The first minutes

    Give yourself time

Stay with them, stroke them, say whatever you want to say. Children can be there too, if they would like to.

  2. Within the first hour

    Make them comfortable

Lay them on their side on a blanket or towel, somewhere cool in the house. If you can, gently tuck their legs towards the body.

  3. When you are ready

    Give us a ring

Tell us your address, roughly how much they weigh and whether you would like an individual or communal cremation. We will agree a time that suits you.

  4. If they are at the vet

    Ask the vet to wait

Our partner practices can keep them in a cold room for up to 48 hours. We collect them from there.

Not sure what to choose? Call us and we will talk you through the options calmly, with no pressure to decide.

Cremation

Individual or communal: the honest difference

Both are dignified. The difference is whether the ashes come back to you.

Ashes returned

from €120

Individual cremation

Your pet is cremated on their own. A numbered metal tag stays with them from collection to urn, so the ashes you receive are theirs alone.

  • Ashes ready within 3 working days, usually the next day
  • A simple named urn and a certificate with the cremation number
  • You are welcome to be there when they are placed in the chamber
Ashes not returned

from €60

Communal cremation

Several pets are cremated together. Their ashes cannot be separated, so we scatter them in our garden of remembrance just outside town.

  • A good choice if you would rather not keep an urn at home
  • We can take a paw print or a lock of fur beforehand
  • The garden is open to visitors at weekends

Some providers hand back “a few ashes” after a communal cremation. We don’t, because they would not be your pet’s alone. See the prices by weight.

Collection and farewell

We come to you, then you have time

We arrive in a vehicle fitted out for animals, with a soft cover and a stretcher. We carry your pet with care, and you decide whether to come along with us.

At our premises on Example Lane there is a small farewell room: a sofa, a soft bed for your pet and a window onto the garden. Stay as long as you need. Most families stay for around half an hour.

  • From homeanywhere in Hollinsford, every day 7am–10pm
  • From the vetstraight from our partner practices
  • Overnightin urgent cases, after a phone call
  • The farewell roomthe first 30 minutes at no extra cost
